Group 2- From Seed to Fruit: The Tomato Story
Starter
Prepared by: Serap TÜRKÜCÜ
One bright April day, the children in the
school garden gathered again—this time with tiny tomato seeds in their palms.
The air smelled like spring and the soil was ready for new life.
Under the guidance of their teacher Serap, the children gently dug holes and
placed the little tomato seeds into the earth. They named their seeds with
care—one was called "Tommy the Tomato," another “Captain Red,” and
one brave little seed was named “Fireball.”
Down in the soil, word spread fast. Tony the Worm, who had just helped Miss
Strawberry a few weeks ago, poked his head out of a tunnel. “Oh? New seeds
again? Let’s see who these ones are.”
Nearby, the Busy Beetle Brothers polished their shells and got ready to welcome
the newcomers. “Maybe these seeds will grow tall and bring shade,” they hoped.
Everything seemed peaceful in the garden. The children watered the soil, sang
songs to their seeds, and even drew little signs to mark where each tomato was
planted.
But deep under the surface, something unusual stirred. One of the seeds,
Fireball, began to glow faintly one night—just for a second.
And then… silence.
The next morning, the children noticed something strange: all the signs they
made were turned upside down, and tiny red footprints led away from the garden
bed...
Where did the footprints lead?
And what was happening beneath the soil?
